Orc ‘Eadbashers #8 – The mob so far

With two new recruits and a total of seventeen orcs, I finally reached the halfway point in the project. Here’s a group picture.

As you can see, there are some issues when it comes to put the bases together in the unit, one more reason to plan the bases for the unit as a whole at the end. I think some rocky bases with some light gray in them would do a nice job, but I will have to verify whether they could work with the rest of the units first. Also, I may want to consider coming up with a nice unit filler…

‘Till next time!

  1. Ah, the old struggle to get units to rank up. If there’s one thing I’ll never miss from old Warhammer it’s that! Great work on these boys – I’m really enjoying watching this army develop.

    1. Thanks! Yes, ranking up it’s not their specialty. There was one magic combination I had devised when I first assembled them in which they were all fitting nicely in the ranks. But I’ll try a different approach. πŸ™‚

  2. They look great mate – good to see some typical orc discipline being shown when ranking up πŸ˜‰

  3. The boyz look great as a horde like that – but yeah, I don’t miss the days of trying to get figures to rank up on their squares!

    1. I’ll try to create and paint the bases separately, and then glue the painted minis on them… We’ll see if it works out.

  4. That looks like a great mob of greenskins. Maybe a well-planned unit filler could get round the frustrating lack of ranking up nicely?

    1. Cheers. Yes, I’ve been thinking about unit fillers for a while, but cannot come up with a nice idea. Maybe a siege engine for a unit of regular boys could do. Or a nice terrain feature with a few orcs traversing it. But it’s better to plan these things when you are assembling the unit, I think. So I’ll do it for the feral orcs…
